The worldwide rise in crude oil prices caused by the geopolitical situation between Russia and Ukraine is likely to push up India’s domestic petrol and diesel rates. As the assembly elections in Punjab, Goa, Uttrakhand, Manipur, and Uttar Pradesh came to a close, it is expected that the Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) would modify or raise the price of petrol and diesel. Crude oil prices have reached a record high in global markets, which may lead to fuel price increases in the domestic market. However, the government may execute an excise tax drop to balance the fuel predicament in the economy.
