In view of the ban imposed by the Supreme Court on the operation of 10-year-old diesel and 15-year-old petrol engine vehicles in the National Capital Region (NCR), Haryana Police has issued a notification regarding the operation of old vehicles on the roads in all the 14 districts falling in the NCR of the state. Will conduct awareness campaign.
Giving information about this on Tuesday, a Haryana Police spokesperson said that the Supreme Court has imposed a ban on the plying of old vehicles in the Delhi-NCR region to check air pollution. Guidelines have also been issued by the Supreme Court regarding the operation of old vehicles that have completed the prescribed time period.
According to the court, such vehicles cannot ply in 14 districts of Haryana falling under NCR. In order to ensure compliance with these orders, the police will make the drivers/owners aware of the restrictions on plying of old vehicles.
As per the guidelines, 10 years old diesel and 15 years old petrol vehicles will be allowed in NCR region i.e. 14 districts of Haryana namely Faridabad, Gurugram, Nuh, Rohtak, Sonipat, Rewari, Jhajjar, Panipat, Palwal, Bhiwani, Dadri, Mahendragarh, Jind and Karnal. Walking on the roads is not allowed.
He said that as part of the awareness campaign, the owners of such vehicles would also be advised to scrap this category of vehicles as per the policy of the government. Simultaneously, enforcement drive will be launched and vehicles violating the above norms will be confiscated.
The spokesperson also appealed to the general public that following the directions of the Supreme Court and NGT, do not drive old vehicles that have completed the prescribed time period.
